MUSEUM RENOVATION: BAYLY ART MUSEUM Client: University of Virginia Size: 14,000 sq.ft. Completed: 2009 Described as the "polishing of a gem" this project addresses a number of physical limitations that the 1935 Bayly Memorial Building at the University of Virginia has presented for the operation of a modern academic centered art museum. The design approach reinvigorates the notable qualities of the existing architecture and significantly improves the setting for the display, study and storage of art. New systems and alterations are integrated into this historic structure to correct deficiencies in interior climate control, lighting and programmed space.
